Alanis Morissette gave her daughter Onyx an eighth birthday to remember.
While on tour for The Triple Moon Tour, the mother of three took a brief break from her concert at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville to celebrate her little girl’s special day and sing their classic hit Ironic together.
With the help of her husband Mario Treadway, Onyx walked onto the stage and quickly ran into her mother’s open arms.
First, the Jagged Little Pill superstar performed the Happy Birthday song, joined by many of the 20,000 fans who sang along with their rock ‘n’ roll hero.
From there, the band began playing the opening notes of Ironic and Onyx began singing the opening verse, all while getting some encouragement from his mother.
Alanis Morissette, 50, made her daughter Onyx’s eighth birthday even more special by performing her classic hit Ironic together during her concert at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
“An old man turned ninety-eight / Won the lottery and died the next day,” sang a sparkling Onyx, before her mother stepped in to remind her of the lyrics.
“It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay / It’s a reprieve from death row two minutes late / And isn’t that ironic? Don’t you think?”
The mother-daughter duo then sang the chorus together, which again inspired many in the audience to join in.
“It’s like the rain on your wedding day / It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid / It’s the good advice you just didn’t follow / And who would have thought? It’s logical,” the two sang with evident emotion.
The You Oughta Know singer-songwriter went for the classic rock star look in black leather pants with a matching tank top and a bright blue shirt that she left unbuttoned.
To complete her overall look, the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada native had her dark brown locks still flowing past her shoulders with added volume, plenty of natural waves, and a middle part.
Onyx matched her mom’s cool style: leopard-print pants, a pink T-shirt and matching sneakers.

In addition to Onyx, Morissette and Treadway, who tied the knot in 2010, are also parents to 13-year-old Ever and 4-year-old Winter.
Ironic was actually the fourth of six hit singles from her classic album Jagged Little Pill, which became a cultural phenomenon upon its release in June 1995.
The mother-daughter duo then sang the chorus together, which again inspired many in the audience to join in.
Morissette joined Onyx on vocals, especially for the chorus sections.

Along with Onyx, Morissette and Treadway are the proud parents of son Ever, 13, and daughter Winter, four.
The happy couple tied the knot during a ceremony at their Los Angeles home in May 2010.

The album was a worldwide commercial success, topping the charts in 13 countries and selling over 33 million copies worldwide, and is now considered one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Jagged Little Pill ended up being nominated for nine Grammy Awards, winning five, including Album of the Year.
Morissette’s The Triple Moon Tour, which also includes special guests Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Morgan Wade, is scheduled to continue through August 10, though she will also play festivals sporadically through the end of September.
