An actor living in South Florida is facing extradition to Ireland for raping a 19-year-old au pair at a Dublin Airbnb.
Kevin Yungman, 31, was arrested by US marshals on Monday after Irish authorities sought his arrest for the alleged rape in 2018. Local 10 reports.
Irish prosecutors say he met a Brazilian au pair during a trip to Paris in April 2018, and the two stayed in touch, eventually planning a trip to visit her in Ireland, where she was working.
Yungman then allegedly raped the 19-year-old twice at an Airbnb in Dublin on June 4, 2018.
The victim reported the alleged rape to Irish authorities, who say she showed them a WhatsApp message from Yungman saying “nothing like this will ever happen again,” according to Local 10.

Authorities arrested Yungman two days later as he attempted to board a flight.
He claimed in two separate police interviews that the sex was consensual and was later released.
But in February 2020, Ireland’s Director of Public Prosecutions ordered Yungman to be charged with rape.
It is unclear why the director made the decision two years later.
If Yungman is now convicted of rape under Irish law, he could spend the rest of his life in prison, according to Local 10.

As of Thursday night, Yungman was still being held in the Broward County Jail in Florida and had not yet been extradited.
