A tourist suffered horrific injuries after a fake delivery man burst into her apartment, held her at gunpoint and beat her.
Maressa Nunes, 31, was staying in a rented apartment during her vacation in Santiago, Chile, when she was violently attacked on June 24.
Nunes and her friend, both from Brazil, had ordered food through an app and when a man knocked on the door a short while later, they thought it was the delivery man.
But the man broke into the premises, overpowered the women and called two more men to the place.
Nunes resisted because she feared being raped. In a voice note sent to her family after the attack, Nunes said the attacker let her go after beating her and telling her friends: “Come on, this is too easy.”

Former bodybuilder Nunes was taken to hospital in critical condition after suffering fractures to her eye sockets, jaw and nose, as well as numerous bruises. She will now require reconstructive facial surgery.
Nunes and her friend, both from Brazil, had ordered food through an app and when a man knocked on the door a while later, they thought it was the delivery man. But the man forced his way in, overpowered the women and called two other men to the place.
The attackers fled after neighbours heard the victims’ cries for help and called the police.
Former bodybuilder Nunes was taken to hospital in critical condition after suffering fractures to her eye sockets, jaw and nose, as well as numerous bruises.
She will now need facial reconstructive surgery after the brutal attack.
Her sister Larissa told local media: “She has many bite marks all over her body. My sister reacted to the robbery. He put a gun in her mouth. It was a barbaric crime. They beat my sister brutally.”
The three men eventually fled the apartment building with the women’s jewelry, watches and cell phones.
The friend who stayed at the flat with Nunes suffered comparatively minor injuries and was able to return home to Brazil.
Nunes’ sister Larissa told local media: “She has many bite marks all over her body. My sister reacted to the robbery. She put a gun in his mouth. It was a barbaric crime. They brutally beat my sister.”
The three men eventually fled the apartment building with the jewelry, watches and cell phones of the Nunes family and their friends.
But Nunes’ injuries were so severe that he has not yet been able to return to his home in Maringa.
His sister explained: “In his current condition, he cannot take a regular flight. He risks bleeding during a normal flight. He needs a medical team on board.”
Nunes’ family traveled to Chile in an attempt to bring her back home.
However, just a day after arriving, Larissa herself was assaulted on the street by a passing motorcyclist.
She said: ‘We just want to leave. Get out of this nightmare and take care of Maressa.’
Local police are investigating the brutal attack. No suspects have been arrested.
