A six-year-old British girl was reportedly pulled from a hotel pool in Tenerife, Spain, 50 minutes after a lifeguard had clocked out.

Local police have launched an investigation into the incident that occurred at the Granada Park Aparthotel last week.

The horror unfolded on May 9 around 6:50 p.m. in Los Cristianos, on the southwest coast of Tenerife.

Investigators are now working to establish where the young woman’s parents were at the time and why there were no lifeguards present at the pool, local reports said.

Emergency services received a call requesting medical assistance for the girl who had been rescued from the pool by several guests and staff.

The incident occurred on May 9 at around 6:50 p.m. in the pool of the Granada Park Aparthotel in Los Cristianos (in the photo), on the southwest coast of Tenerife.

The girl appeared to be drowning when rescuers intervened to remove her from the pool.

Rescuers reportedly performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the girl as soon as they pulled her out of the water.

Police said that “within moments,” two motorcyclists and two patrol cars arrived at the scene, along with a doctor and a first responder.

Ambulances then took the girl to a nearby medical center.

There, he was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia, which is caused when someone inhales liquid into the respiratory tract of the lungs.

Hospital staff were able to stabilize her, but due to the severity of her condition, she was transferred to the pediatric emergency department of a university hospital.

The girl was saved, police reported. Her current condition is unknown.
