An Australian man was stabbed to death at a tourist resort in Thailand after an argument with an American in a restaurant.

Liam Michael Ross, 35, was found with stab wounds to his abdomen, leg and arm on Ao Nang beach in Krabi early this morning.

He was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Ao Nang police arrested US citizen Randall Owen Johnson for the stabbing and charged him with physically injuring another person causing death.

Witnesses reported that both men had been drinking at a nearby restaurant prior to the incident and reportedly had a disagreement.

They reportedly met again as the Australian man was walking back to his hotel, which allegedly led to a confrontation.
