Anna Meares, Australian Olympic team chef de mission in Paris and cycling legend, says the inclusion of the Olympic oath “at heart level” on the jackets team members will wear marks a special moment for each athlete.
The uniforms that Australian athletes will wear at the opening ceremony, which will be watched by a global television audience of more than one billion, were unveiled on Wednesday, highlighting the special inclusion of the jackets.
For the first time, the oath of Australian Olympians will be on the inside pocket of the jacket, with the names of all 301 Australian Olympic champions across the entire lining of the jacket.
The hero suits will also feature Olympic boxer Paul Fleming’s ‘Walking Together’ Indigenous artwork on the pocket square and scarf and with the Olympic athletes’ oath on the inner lining.
“Wearing the Australian Olympic Opening Ceremony uniform is a rare and special moment,” Meares said.

The oath of Australian Olympians is embedded in the blazers that will be worn at the opening ceremony in Paris.

Response to the uniforms was mixed on social media.
“A true Australian Olympic uniform would be a pair of gray track pants, a black hoodie and a pair of TN.” a sports fan joked about X.

Meanwhile, the eye-catching uniforms, designed by Sportscraft with Volley footwear, were showcased by nine athletes, including Matildas forward Michelle Heyman and water polo star Tilly Kearns.
Wednesday marked 100 days until the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games on the Seine River.
At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Australians won 46 medals, including 17 gold, to finish sixth in the table.
