A manhunt is underway for a driver after a man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services were called to Abell Road in Melonba, a suburb of Blacktown about 51 kilometres northwest of Sydney’s CBD, at about 11.45pm on Sunday following reports of a man injured on the side of the road.
Paramedics worked desperately to save the man, believed to be in his 70s, but he died at the scene.
The man has not yet been formally identified.
Officers have established a crime scene and investigators from the Accident Investigation Unit are forensically examining the area.
Police believe the man was struck by a black sedan traveling east on the highway.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
