A British tourist died today after being “plucked from the water” at a holiday resort in Cyprus.
The 62-year-old man was swimming at a beach in Peyia, in the west of the island, when the tragedy occurred.
He disappeared from sight before being brought to shore, where emergency crews performed CPR on him, unfortunately without success, SigmaLive reported.
The man was then rushed to Paphos General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A mandatory autopsy has not yet been performed to establish the exact cause of death.

It is unclear whether the man was alone and exactly what beach he was swimming at when the events unfolded.
Peyia is a town in the Paphos district of Cyprus and is a popular tourist destination, especially for British people.
Last month, an 87-year-old man died while swimming in nearby Coral Bay in Peyia, which has a coastline with particularly rocky headlands and large sea caves.
The man was found floating unconscious after going into the water at around 1.30pm, when tourists pulled him out of the water and called an ambulance.
