Men’s triathlon and surfing POSTPONED

A very important one in case you missed it.

The men’s triathlon has been postponed due to (unsurprisingly) concerns about the water quality of the River Seine.

Despite spending around £1bn trying to fix the problem, an inspection at 3.30am found pollution levels were still too high to be safe.

Meanwhile, in Tahiti, surfing has been suspended for now due to “adverse weather conditions”, affecting the men’s and women’s quarter-finals.

Ireland reaches men’s double sculls final

Hats off to Daire Lynch and Philip Doyle, who reached Thursday’s men’s double scull final after beating second-placed USA by more than a second.

Germany had been ahead from the start but are heartbroken to be knocked out of contention and miss out on the final.

Shooters in action this morning

Good luck to Nathan Hales, Matthew Coward-Holley and Lucy Hall this morning as they take on the men’s and women’s pit qualifiers respectively.

Riath Al-Samarrai’s quest for the SOUL OF THE OLYMPIC GAMES

This is one of my favorite pieces Mail Sport has produced so far in Paris.

In this magnificent piece, Riath Al-Samarrai traces the stories of some athletes you probably won’t hear about anywhere else and the extraordinary paths they’ve taken to get here.

One to watch this morning

The men’s 100m freestyle heats begin this morning.

We have Matthew Richards and Jacob Whittle competing in that and we will keep you posted with their results.

It bodes well that Richards claimed silver in the 200m freestyle yesterday, finishing an agonising 0.02 seconds behind Romanian star David Popovici.

The medal table as it stands

Great Britain currently sits seventh in the medal table.

The first of the gold medals came in eventing thanks to Tom McEwen and his horse JL Dublin, Ros Canter with Lordships Graffalo and Laura Collett with London 52.

Tom Pidcock then continued a stunning comeback in cross-country cycling, recovering from a 40-second deficit and a puncture to cross the line first as the French crowd booed.

What’s on TV today?

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the live performances you can catch on the BBC today.

Of course, you’ll also want to make sure you have the Mail Sport live blog open – we’ll be bringing you all the updates and reaction from the Games, as well as wider features covering a range of topics, until the evening.

Great Britain qualifies for women’s double scull final

Rebecca Wilde and Mathilda Hodgkins-Byrne qualified for the women’s double skull final with a fantastic performance, losing only to Romania.

They will advance to the Olympic final on Thursday, having been together only as a couple this season.

Since Tokyo, hardly anyone has come close to Romania. A fabulous job. GB was one of the lowest ranked boats here, but it has exceeded expectations.

Today’s preview with Sir Steve Redgrave

You may have already had breakfast, but it’s time for another: Mail Sport’s Olympics breakfast briefing with Sir Steve Redgrave. Delicious.

Team GB head into day four with 10 medals and Redgrave has highlighted the best of the action ahead.

Does anyone remember Andy Murray and Dan Evans? They snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the first round and will be back again later.
