India’s dynamic opener Suryakumar Yadav has praised Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag after his batting masterclass against the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. Parag displayed the art of power hitting as he came out with all guns blazing and blazed his way to 84 off 45 balls, hitting 7 fours and 6 towering sixes. He advanced his runs at a strike rate of 186.67. He hit two sixes and three fours off Anrich Nortje in the last over of the innings and single-handedly guided RR to a competitive total of 185/5. Turning to X, Surya praised Parag for the commitment he has shown and the performance he has delivered in the IPL.
“A few weeks ago I met a man at NCA. He came with a small hiccup. Completely focused on his recovery and working on his skills with great discipline. And it was not wrong to say that to one of the coaches there: ” He has changed ‘guy’ RIYAN PARAG 2.0 Beware,” Surya wrote on X.

Parag started his innings steadily, scoring 26 runs off 26 balls. In the next 19 balls he scored 58 runs at a strike rate of 305.
After the middle of the innings, Parag spoke about the hard work he has put in to deal with speedsters like Anrich Nortje.
“I practiced a lot, I practiced against that kind of (Nortje bowling). I had my options ready for both sides of the wicket – I leaned on my strengths, I know I had the power, it’s good if it comes off. Sanju bhai told me to go deep, I was confident that I could score a lot of runs. It was not easy for a new batsman to come and score, you needed someone to stay till the end. It was tough, I am a bit emotional now, I have worked hard and am now seeing the fruits of it,” Parag said.
His batting heroics combined with a clinical performance from the bowlers secured a 12-run win for RR over DC.
