A Spanish anti-tourism group has been condemned as “vile” and “sick beyond belief” after mocking the death of a British teenager who fell from the sixth floor of an Ibiza hotel.
Law student Emma Ramsay, 19, from Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, died in the early hours of last Tuesday after falling about 80ft from the balcony of her holiday hotel.
MailOnline can reveal the tragedy is believed to have occurred after she attempted to climb from one balcony to another at the Vibra District Hotel in the party town of San Antonio.
His death has since been the subject of ridicule by an anti-tourism group which has compiled a gruesome list of tourist deaths from balconies, by nationality, in the Balearic Islands.
The so-called Balearic Balconing Federation uses the term ‘balconing’ to describe the dangerous act of climbing between balconies or jumping into pools below.

The group posted a link to a news article about Ms Ramsay’s death on the day she died, with a headline reading: “Coming back.”
A Scottish minister is now demanding that the website and its social media accounts be shut down.
Christina McKelvie, MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall & Stonehouse and Minister for Drug and Alcohol Policy, said: “This is absolutely vile and my heart goes out to the loved ones of all those who have been targeted by this organisation.
‘It is reprehensible that someone would try to exploit and use tragic deaths in such a cruel way.
“The sooner the organization is shut down, the better, and social media networks should take every possible step to remove such deplorable content from their sites.”
A guest at the Vibra District hotel where Ms Ramsay died added: “This website and account X are incredibly sick. They should be shut down forever.”
“Those responsible for these acts should be prosecuted. How can they get away with mocking the families of those who have died?”
MailOnline has passed details of the website, which claims to be based in Països, Catalonia, to the Spanish Civil Guard.
A journalist’s message to the group’s X account, demanding to know why they thought it appropriate to joke about the death of a 19-year-old girl, went unanswered.
MailOnline first revealed the existence of the website in June this year, telling how it offers two points for a death and one point for an injury.
Spanish police have confirmed they are treating Miss Ramsay’s death as an “accident” and that alcohol was involved.
The owner of a local business near the hotel where he died said: ‘I heard he fell while climbing from one balcony to another.
“I think she wanted to see her friends in another room and she slipped. It happened on the side of the hotel and she fell on the pavement. It’s a terrible tragedy.”
Paramedics rushed to her aid after she fell at around 3am, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Spanish authorities are said to have provided “emotional support” to two of her traumatised friends who were on holiday with her.
The University of Strathclyde student had been enjoying a night out with friends just hours earlier at Hï Ibiza nightclub.

Miss Ramsay, who was about to begin her third year of law studies at the University of Strathclyde, posted a series of TikTok videos showing her happily dancing with friends in Ibiza nightclubs in the days before her death.
Her mother, Barbara Smith, paid tribute to her “angel Emma” in a social media post, saying: “I don’t even know where to begin.
“You are my daughter, my best friend in the entire world, and I will miss you more than words can ever express. Rest in peace my sweet angel and sleep soundly. Mommy loves you so much.”
Susana Gómes-Sellés, spokesperson for the Vibra Hoteles chain, said: “We would like to express our deepest condolences to the family in these difficult times.
‘We also want to convey that our company complies with all legislation related to safety and security.
‘In addition, all the information we have is what the police have provided after the statements of the friends who were with her and shared a room with her.
‘We understand that this is a very sad situation for everyone and especially for the family.
We will not comment on the behavior or posts of others.
Lorna Lawson, headteacher at St John Ogilve High School, where Emma used to be headteacher, said: ‘We are shocked and saddened by the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of our former headteacher, Emma Ramsay.
‘Emma was an incredibly kind, hard-working, bright and talented student who contributed greatly to our school community.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Emma will be missed and will always have a special place at our school.”
Monica Lennon, Labour MP for Central Scotland and a friend of Ms Ramsay’s family, said people in Hamilton were devastated by her death.
She said: “It shows how a vibrant life can affect so many other people. People are still in shock and will feel this loss for a long time, but for his family, and especially his parents, people feel desperately sad. For any parent, it’s their worst nightmare.”
The Balearic Balconing Federation, which also sells merchandising, was launched in 2022 and already has more than 55,000 followers on its X account.
He has morbidly labelled the British as “lords and masters of this sport” and referred to victims who have died as “dead athletes”, saying: “Congratulations to all those who made it possible.”

Among friends who have paid tribute to Miss Ramsay is Paris McGoldrick, who posted: “I don’t even know where to begin to say how perfect our Emma was. I loved everything about you and always will.”
“Heaven just welcomed the most beautiful angel it will ever have and I am forever grateful to be able to call you my friend. I will always cherish the times we shared together, Em.
‘I will love you forever my girl, you will never be forgotten.’
Ella Redfearn shared a photo of herself and Emma sitting on the edge of a lake and wrote: “Rest in peace my girl. A ray of sunshine and the kindest soul, you will be in my heart forever.”
Another friend, Kimberly Barrie, added: “Rest in peace my girl. Emma Ramsay, thank you for allowing me to meet the purest and most beautiful soul. I will love you forever.”
Niamh Anderson said: ‘Our beautiful angel. I will be forever grateful to be able to call you my friend. You will be forever young my girl, never a goodbye, just a see you later.
‘The greatest ray of sunshine that ever walked the earth and the greatest blessing heaven has ever received.’
Another wrote: “The most beautiful girl with the purest soul. You are truly one of a kind and I will miss you so much.”
A fellow student said: “It’s so tragic. Emma was in my class at university and was so welcoming to everyone.”
They added that she was “always willing to go the extra mile for others.”
A spokesperson for the University of Strathclyde described Emma as “a much-loved member of our student community”.
He said: “We are shocked and saddened by her death. Everyone at the university offers our deepest condolences to Emma’s family and everyone affected by this terrible incident.”
