Duke fans splashed water on UNC men’s basketball players Saturday after beating their fierce rivals, and also threw at least one empty plastic water bottle at them.

The No. 7 Tar Heels beat the No. 9 Blue Devils 84-79 to win the ACC regular season title and sweep their season series against Duke.

And disturbing scenes occurred after North Carolina’s victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium, when home Duke fans soaked part of the field and even wet some members of the media. video shows. DailyMail.com has contacted UNC for comment.

The problem occurred after several UNC players mocked the crowd by waving goodbye.

Included in that group was Cormac Ryan, who scored a season-high 31 points in the victory.

He hit a huge 3-pointer with 1:38 left to extend the Tar Heels’ lead to nine.

He then made two clutch free throws with 4.7 seconds left to give his team a 25-6 record (17-3 conference).

Harrison Ingram added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels, while Kyle Filipowski scored 23 points to lead the Blue Devils (24-7, 15-5).

There was also a bit of family irritability, aside from fans throwing drinks.

North Carolina’s Cormac Ryan scored a season-high 31 points in the 84-79 victory.

That came after Filipowski and Ingram ended up on the ground after Duke’s star big man contested Ingram’s shot at the six-minute mark of the first half.

As Ingram got up to run toward the defense, Filipowski lifted his right leg and tackled Ingram toward the court near midcourt.

UNC coach Hubert Davis immediately began making frantic gestures for officials to watch the replay, but there was no whistle, stoppage or review as the rivalry battle continued.

UNC and Duke will compete in the ACC Tournament next week before participating in March Madness.
