Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion Thursday, the third of his NFL career.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will reportedly meet with neurologists next week to begin the decision-making process on whether to retire from the NFL.

Tagovailoa suffered the third concussion of his career on Thursday night and DailyMail.com revealed on Friday that the Dolphins are considering holding him out for the rest of the year to give him time to properly decide on his future.

Now, ESPNAdam Schefter reports that Tagovailoa is scheduled to meet with neurologists in the coming days to seek their opinions.

The QB reportedly wants “information about the severity of his latest concussion and the cumulative effect of those he has suffered in the past.”

Tagovailoa took a hard hit from the Buffalo Bills’ Damar Hamlin during the Dolphins’ Week 2 loss on Thursday, and immediately had to fight back.

He left the field under his own power but was diagnosed with a concussion within six minutes of returning to the locker room and is now expected to miss a significant amount of time.

In the 2022 season, he suffered two more concussions and received a third blow to the head that ultimately prompted a change in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

In his senior year of college, he also suffered a concussion, and many prominent experts have urged the quarterback to retire for the sake of his family and his future health.

On Friday morning, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was eager to calm rumors about Tagovailoa’s future so soon after the incident.

“You’re talking about his career, his career is his,” she said. “I just wish people would listen for a second to what I’m saying, that looking into his future is not in his best interest.”

“So I’m going to ask everyone who really cares to make that the last thing on their mind.”
