A woman asked Donald Trump how he plans to lower food prices at a town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, on Monday, prompting the former president to go on a rant explaining why he mentions Hannibal Lecter at his rallies.

Donald Trump explained one of his strangest riffs during a rambling response to a town hall question Monday night.

The former president often goes off on a tangent about the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter when talking about criminal immigrants who have come to the United States across the southern border.

At a town hall in Oaks, Pennsylvania, Trump ranted about how ‘fake news’ doesn’t understand why he mentions the fictional character.

He took time on stage to answer an attendee’s question about lowering food prices to detail why he invokes the Silence of the Lambs antagonist.

Trump said talking about Lecter is easier than “wasting a lot of words” to describe the “sick puppies” coming into the country across the southern border.

Without specifically describing how he plans to reduce price increases, the former president told the woman who asked the question that he wanted to address her concerns about rising crime affecting black communities.

He took the time to criticize illegal immigration and promote his plan to close the border and therefore decrease crime.

“When millions of people come to our country, they are having a devastating effect on black and Hispanic families more than anyone else,” the former president said. “I think it will spread to many other places.”

‘It’s a very bad thing that’s happening. So they are coming in, many coming from jails, prisons, mental institutions and asylums. “That’s, you know, a step above: a madhouse,” he continued.

The mention of insane people and criminals seems to awaken in Trump the desire to mention Hannibal Lecter and explain why he decides to mention the character when talking about the immigration crisis.

“Whenever I say ‘Hannibal Lecter,’ you know what I’m talking about,” Trump explained.

“There’s always fake news coming out; that’s a lot of fake news too,” he said, prompting a chorus of “boos” from the crowd in Pennsylvania. “They always bring it up, you know, it’s degrading, and they say, ‘Hannibal Lecter, why would I bring it up?’ Well, you know why, because he was a sick puppy.

‘And we have sick puppies arriving in our country. I think that’s a lot better than wasting a lot of words,” Trump continued. “You just say ‘Hannibal Lecter, we don’t want him.'” But they always say, ‘Why do you say that?’ I do it for many reasons.’

‘But I do it because we are allowing some very bad people into our country. And they come as terrorists.

X’s critics attacked the former president’s latest rant.
