Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz responded to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by acknowledging his “fellow cat owner.”

Walz, who is Vice President Kamala Harris’s pick for vice president on the Democratic ticket, appeared on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show on Tuesday night, shortly after the presidential debate ended and news of Swift’s public endorsement of Harris broke.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift, and I say that as a cat owner,” Walz joked after Maddow read him part of Swift’s passionate Instagram post supporting Harris, according to reports. Billboard.

He went on to praise Harris for her “eloquent” and “clear” demeanor during the debate, adding that she lacks the “kind of courage we need in America to stand up.”

Walz took the opportunity to reflect on the importance of such endorsements in the current political climate, adding: “We’ve seen it with the Republicans who came out on top at the Democratic National Convention (DNC).

‘We have seen this in the case of women who would like to maintain their private life, but are forced to do so because they almost die from not being able to access abortion services during pregnancy.

“And now we have someone like Taylor Swift, who has made that very clear. This would be the opportunity, Swifties: KamalaHarris.com, come together and make things work.”

Swift, known for her massive influence and dedicated fan base as well as her chart-topping hits, took to Instagram to clarify her political stance following a wave of AI-generated content falsely claiming she had supported Donald Trump.

His post not only rebuked the misuse of artificial intelligence to spread misinformation, but also laid out his reasons for supporting Harris and Walz.

She wrote: ‘I recently learned that an AI of “me” falsely supporting Donald Trump’s presidential bid was posted on your site. It really evoked my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation.’

“This led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”

Swift continued: ‘I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to stand up for them.’

‘I think she is a talented and steady leader and I think we can achieve much more in this country if we are guided by calm and not chaos.

“I was very encouraged and impressed by his choice of running mate, @timwalz, who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.”

As the 2024 election season heats up, Swift’s participation marks a significant moment, highlighting the role of celebrity voices in shaping political discourse.

Meanwhile, Republicans were furious with ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis for refusing to fact-check Kamala Harris over her lies about Donald Trump’s views on IVF.

Muir and Davis have repeatedly sought to fact-check Trump’s statements during the debate on topics including the Capitol riot and a claim about immigration crimes.

However, Harris incorrectly claimed during the debate that Trump was against in vitro fertilization.
