Feeding America announced earlier this week that the pop star, 34, had donated millions of dollars to the organization so it could “help communities rebuild and recover” and “provide essential food, clean water and supplies to the people affected by the devastating storms.
And while many people praised the singer’s “generosity,” others pointed out that $5 million was just a small part of her $1.6 billion net worth, and criticized her for not doing more.
Shortly after the news hit the web, social media erupted into a heated debate over her contribution, with some even accusing the Cruel Summer singer of giving back just because she wanted “good publicity.”
“For reference, this is the equivalent of me (a teacher) donating a nickel, so let’s not act like she’s making a sacrifice,” wrote one X, a former Twitter user, while responding to a post about her donation.

Some people also criticized Taylor for not contributing to other causes, such as the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

‘Very nice, but what about Lebanon? Do they ask for a ceasefire? Donate? We need everything they can give us to survive,’ someone else said.
