Sun continue unbeaten start after fun play goes very wrong for Wings

The Connecticut Sun extended their undefeated start to 7-0 to begin the 2024 WNBA season, posting a 74-72 victory over the Dallas Wings on Friday night.

However, the Sun nearly suffered its first loss on what would have been an incredible play by guard Sevgi Uzun with 9.6 seconds left. While shooting the ball from under Connecticut’s basket, Uzun bounced the ball off the back of Brionna Jones. He then got the live ball to bounce off Jones and fired from inside the foul line.

If Uzun’s shot had gone in, it could have been the win for Dallas. Instead, the ball hit the back of the rim. Maddy Siegrist couldn’t hold down the offensive rebound and Tyasha Harris corralled the ball for Connecticut. He was fouled and made one of two free throws to give the Sun their final margin of victory.
