Shocking footage captured the moment a pipe-wielding driver attacked a van belonging to popular crocodile keeper Steve Turnbull.
The dramatic road rage incident unfolded on the Pacific Highway at Rochedale South, near Logan, southeast of Brisbane, at 3.50pm last Sunday.
Dashcam footage from Mr Turnbull’s van, later uploaded to social media, captured the moment a silver hatchback stopped on the Exit 19 off-ramp.
Turnbull, who was driving behind another vehicle, also entered the exit ramp and was forced to stop behind the two cars.
The driver of the vehicle, who was shirtless, got out of the car and walked towards Mr Turnbull’s van carrying what appeared to be a bong in one hand.
“You’ve got a fucking bong in your hand, dude,” Turbull says in the clip.
The two drivers then got into a heated exchange as the hatchback driver repeatedly swore at Mr Turnbull before returning to his car and driving off.
At one point, a woman in the man’s car got out of the car and began shouting and making gestures at Mr Turnbull.
Turnbull claimed the motorist swerved in front of his ute as it was merging from the Gateway Motorway onto the M1 before the dramatic incident unfolded (pictured).
The driver (pictured) of the hatchback, wearing nothing but black shorts, got out of the car and walked towards Mr Turnbull’s ute carrying what appeared to be a bong in one hand.
Turnbull (pictured), who is also a well-known tour and safari guide, was returning from a visit to the Australian Zoo at the time.
Turnbull claimed the driver swerved in front of his ute as it was merging from the Gateway Motorway onto the M1.
“I honked at him, he didn’t like it and proceeded to attack my car with his pipe,” she told the courier mail.
“I tried to take the Rochedale bypass, and he crosses and then jumps out of the car with the pipe in his hand, got out and started abusing me and broke the side mirror of the car.”
Turnbull, who is also a well-known tour and safari guide, was returning from a visit to the Australian Zoo at the time.
He also claimed that the driver spat at him and his son and allegedly tried to break the window while he was winding it up.
The dramatic incident didn’t end there as footage captured the angry driver entering the wrong side of a one-way road at the intersection.
The hatchback narrowly avoided colliding with another vehicle before the driver returned to the right side of the road at the next intersection.
Queensland Police said they are investigating the incident.
