New Delhi:

Shakira, in a recent interview with the To tempt magazine shared what she thought of Greta Gerwig’s global hit BarbieThe pop star revealed that her sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, with ex-partner and footballer Gerard Pique, “hated” the film. Shakira said: “My sons absolutely hated it. They found it discouraging. And to some extent I agree. I’m raising two boys. I want them to feel powerful too when they respect women. I love of pop culture as it seeks to empower women without robbing men of their ability to be men, to also protect and provide. I believe in giving women all the tools and the confidence that we can do it all without our essence, without losing our femininity.”

Shakira added, “I think men have a purpose in society and women also have another purpose. We complement each other, and that complement should not be lost.” She added: ‘Just because a woman can do anything doesn’t mean she should. Why not share the burden with people who deserve to bear it, who also have a duty to bear it?’
