The Oklahoma State Department of Education is attempting to revoke an educator’s teaching certificate over a photo discovered on Facebook.
Edmond Memorial High School English teacher Regan Killackey could lose his license after an anonymous tipster sent a photo from his private social media account to the Department of Education.

The photograph was used as evidence in an application to revoke her license and at an Oklahoma State Board of Education meeting on July 31, the department announced that they are moving forward with the process to revoke her certification.
“First of all, I was in shock. And second of all, I thought it was some kind of mistake or some kind of joke or something,” Killackey said. KFOR.

“I have spent my entire career in the state of Oklahoma and have been teaching for 21 years. I have been fortunate and blessed to have this career.”
The whistleblower sent the photo in the days after the attempted assassination of Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
“He posted a photo on his personal Instagram account of a fake stabbing of a presidential candidate wearing a fake mask,” the whistleblower said, according to records obtained by Oklahoma Watch.
“I am a taxpayer and I will NOT tolerate this type of indoctrination of our youth. Please investigate this matter.”
The revocation process is a legal procedure that gives educators the right to a hearing that allows for witnesses and legal representation, according to the education department.
Killackey said she learned the state was seeking to revoke her teaching certificate when her name appeared on the agenda for the July 31 meeting.
Killackey said he was shocked to learn the department was trying to revoke his certificate and initially thought it was a joke.

Walters is a former public school teacher who was elected to office in 2022 and ran on a platform of fighting “woke ideology,” banning books from school libraries and getting rid of “radical leftists” who he says are indoctrinating children in classrooms.
He previously made headlines for ordering teachers to incorporate the Bible into lessons and keep a copy of the holy book in every classroom.
The Oklahoma Supreme Court rejected efforts to allow the state Board of Education to determine which books are available in public school libraries in June.
The board, led by Walters, had recommended that the suburban school district remove two books — “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini and “The Glass Castle” by Jeannette Walls — after new rules were passed in June 2023 banning resources containing pornographic and sexualized content.
