Meerut:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lashed out at the opposition INDIA bloc, saying the attacks on him will not stop the fight against corruption and action will be taken against those involved in corruption irrespective of their status.

“When Modi is taking the fight against corruption with full force, these people have formed the INDI(A) alliance. They think they will intimidate Modi but for me, my Bharat is my family and I am taking steps to protect it from the corrupt,” the Prime Minister said at his first rally in Uttar Pradesh after announcing the Lok Sabha election manifesto.

Prime Minister Modi’s counter-offensive came as the INDIA bloc stalwarts held a rally at New Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan in support of AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and JMM leader Hemant Soren, arrested on corruption charges, accusing the PM of pursuing dictatorial policies. .

The Prime Minister said some people are shocked that he is taking action against corruption.

“I am fighting a great battle to save my country from the corrupt. That is why today they are behind bars and are not even getting bail from the Supreme Court,” PM Modi said.

“The elections are a fight between two camps. On the one hand you have the NDA which is committed to eradicating corruption, on the other hand there is the INDI(A) Alliance which focuses on protecting corrupt leaders. You have to decide whether corruption should be eradicated or not. ” he said at the meeting in Meerut.

“Corrupt people must listen… no matter how many attacks you make on Modi, this is Modi, he will not stop. No matter how big the corrupt person is, action will definitely be taken. Whoever plundered the land will have to give it back. This is Modi’s guarantee,” he said.

Prime Minister Modi raised the Katchatheevu Island issue and accused the Congress and the opposition alliance of trying to damage the unity and sovereignty of the country.

“Today, yet again, an anti-India attitude of the Congress has been exposed. Katchatheevu Island, which lies between India and Sri Lanka and is extremely important from a national security perspective, was given away by Congress after independence.

“India is still paying for the misdeeds of the Congress government,” he said.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are not just to form a government but to form a ‘Viksit Bharat’, Prime Minister Modi said, adding that his government is preparing the roadmap for the next five years used to be.

Prime Minister Modi hailed Meerut as the land of ‘revolution and revolutionaries’ that gave leaders like Chaudhary Charan Singh to the nation.

“Our government has already started preparations for the third term. We are creating a roadmap for the next five years. We are working rapidly on which important decisions we will have to make in the first hundred days.

“In the last ten years you have only seen an appendage of development, now we have to take the country much further,” he said.

The Prime Minister said he has lived in poverty and “that’s why Modi understands very well the sorrow of every poor person, the pain of every poor person, the suffering of every poor person.”

“So I made plans to address every concern of the poor. We have not only empowered the poor, but we have also given them back their self-respect,” Prime Minister Modi said.

Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, who recently joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, shared the stage with the Prime Minister at the meeting.

Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and veteran actor Arun Govil of TV series ‘Ramayan’, the BJP candidate in the Meerut Lok Sabha seat, were present at the meeting.
