The Trump campaign has sought to link Kamala Harris to the border crisis, three years of inflation and the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Her own campaign has attempted to link her to drug price controls and economic growth.

Both efforts appear to be working, according to JL Partners/DailyMail.com, which found that a high percentage of voters blamed or credited her for a number of policies implemented during her time as Joe Biden’s vice president.

In particular, 60 percent of likely voters said he was very or somewhat responsible for the record number of crossings at the southern border.

The Trump campaign sees this as a winning issue.

The poll was conducted online with 1,000 likely voters and has a margin of error of three points.

He has called her the “border czar” and said she was put in charge of immigration policy.

In fact, he was tasked with working with Central American countries to address the root causes of the problem, encouraging people not to head north by promoting economic development, for example, and job creation.

However, the poll suggests the idea that she played a bigger role remains valid.

Some 55 percent also say she was to blame for high inflation levels.

And 49 percent believe he was very or somewhat responsible for the Afghanistan exit, which triggered Biden’s first major crisis in office, with the deaths of 13 U.S. service members.

She later said she was the last person in the room when the decision was made.

On the other hand, 45 percent associate her with significant economic growth, the same proportion who say she was not responsible.

But 53 percent credit him for his work in limiting drug prices.

James Johnson, co-founder of JL Partners, said the results illustrated where it could be vulnerable.

“Voters believe Harris is more responsible for the bad things that have happened under the Biden administration than the good,” he said.

‘That suggests the line of attack — which we heard in Trump’s final statement in the debate in response to his plans, ‘why didn’t you do any of this’ — will be effective.

‘Given that vice presidents don’t have much power and, historically, don’t have much impact on anything, that’s an achievement the Trump campaign will be pleased with, especially in an election where voters want a change from the status quo.’

The Trump campaign has been on the defensive since Biden sensationally dropped out of the race, elevating Harris to the top of the ticket.

He has enjoyed a bonanza in polling and fundraising.

This week he moved into the lead in the JL Partners/DailyMail.com poll, but by just one point.

The result is a race that is still too close to call for a winner to be predicted.
