Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan has received praise from a surprising source: rugby legend Matt Dawson. The six-episode documentary series, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex share their side of the story about their time in the Royal Family, has been praised for its transparency, with Dawson offering his opinion on the couple’s candid portrayal.
talking to the express, Dawson revealed that his initial reaction to the documentary was skepticism. “In the first 10 minutes, I was like, ‘Oh no, this is like a woe is me, doctor,’” he admitted. However, as he continued to watch, Dawson recognized the importance of hearing their story directly from them.
Reflecting on a pivotal moment in the documentary, where Meghan said: “For the last six years of my life, people I don’t know write books about our history. Doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us? Dawson shared his evolving vision: “I just thought, you know what? In their setting and where everyone’s going to have a vision of Harry because he’s kind of an adopted son to everyone after what happened in the past, I thought, ‘ok,’ go with it.” ‘”.
Dawson expressed that, despite the conflicting opinions surrounding the couple, the documentary allowed them to present their own version of events. “We all want to know what they are like, so why don’t we just see what they are like? “It is what it is, but at least it is in his voice,” he said, adding that the documentary has served its purpose by providing information that would not have been available otherwise.
The rugby legend went on to talk about the public’s fascination with the Royal Family, saying“Obviously we’re all interested in it and we’re getting those little nuggets that we wouldn’t have known about before.”
Dawson concluded by urging people to embrace the documentary, stating, “Let’s just split up, you know, not worry about the deal or what his life is like now. “We are interested and our nature and that of the Royal Family is that we want to know what is happening and they tell us from the horse’s mouth, so let’s accept it and take it into account.”
Dawson’s comments highlight the continued public intrigue surrounding the Sussexes and their willingness to share their story on their terms.
