Actor turned director Kunal Kemmu is on cloud nine after his directorial debut Madgaon Express had a promising start at the box office. Summarizing his experience of sitting in the director’s chair, the Golmaal again star on Monday, wrote an extensive note on Instagram. Sharing a few behind-the-scenes images of himself with the lead actors of his film, Kunal Kemmu wrote, “From day 1 of shooting to the day I said the last suit on the sets of Madgaon Express. Every day was so special on so much ways. And I couldn’t have done it without my wonderful team of actors and technicians. To the many colors of friendship that the film shows and the many colors of my own personality that this film allowed me to discover. I wish you Happy Holi to all and thank you so much for all the love you have shown towards our film. May this festival of colors bring happiness and happiness to all of you.”

After a promising opening day, ticket sales for Madgaon Express increased significantly on the first Saturday. According to a Sacnilk report, Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut grossed ₹3 crore at the domestic box office on day 2, doubling the takings compared to the opening day. In total, the comedy-drama has grossed ₹4.5 crore in two days. Madgaon Express revolves around a Goa trip that three childhood friends take. Everything is going well until things take an unexpected turn. The film stars Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu and Avinash Tiwary in the lead roles. The film was backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment.
On Saturday, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted a note on X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the opening day box office report of Madgaon Express. He wrote: “#MadgaonExpress exceeds expectations… Gains momentum on day 1 thanks to #Buy1Get1 ticket offer… The afternoon shows are gradually seeing better occupancy thanks to the support of the target group: Youth… Fri. ₹1.63 cr. #Indianbusiness. #Theatrebox.”
Taran Adarsh added: “The #Buy1Get1 offer is extended until Day 2 (Sat), so an upward trend is definitely in store.”

In an WhatsNew2Day review, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave Madgaon Express a solid rating of 3 out of 5 stars. He wrote, “Madgaon Express, produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, harkens back to the spirit of their Dil Chahta Hai in significant ways. In terms of style and content, however, it is a film that wants us to dismiss our worst misfortunes with a burst of laughter, which is what the doctor might order as a salve for the tough, fraught times in which we live. in.”
