Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has expressed concern after a man was stabbed during a broad daylight attack on a train in London. The incident happened on Wednesday between Shortlands and Beckenham on a train bound for Victoria. Local police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after reports the victim was “seriously injured”. Via social media platform

“WTAF is this in London now?!?!?! London was once the most amazing city. It’s an absolute disgrace for a place,” Pietersen captioned the post.

Pietersen also pointed to recent cases of people being robbed in broad daylight in the capital.

Meanwhile, Pietersen is currently in India for his IPL commentary stint.

Pietersen, who announced his retirement from the sport in March 2018, won four Ashes series and smashed 8,181 runs in 104 Tests.

Pietersen, who had a brief and ill-fated spell as England captain, will be best remembered for his sublime innings of 158 in the fifth Test against Australia at The Oval in 2005.

That heroic effort gave England the draw they needed to finally reclaim the Ashes, also producing epic knocks of 227 against Australia in Adelaide in 2010 and a brilliant 186 against India in Mumbai in 2012.

Born in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa, Pietersen made his international debut against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2004. Although he has developed into a dominant force as a Test batsman, Pietersen’s return of 10 centuries from 137 ODIs is disappointing for a player who ability to pick apart any bowling attack. Pietersen’s highest score in ODIs, 130, came against Pakistan in 2012.
