A person close to Peña spoke to Argentine newspaper Clarín on condition of anonymity and said the lawyer lost control of the Ferrari when he noticed the driver of a Peugeot was recording him.

He said the lawyer became frightened and accelerated, failing to control the steering wheel, causing the car to spin.

Records obtained by Clarín showed that Ferrari has accumulated four fines for speeding.

The luxury vehicle was fined two times for $328 in the city of Buenos Aires and two additional fines for $617 in two cities in the province of Argentina.
