Ariana Grande, 31, seemed to give

Ariana Grande appeared to subtly upstage Carrie Underwood following the American Idol winner’s performance at Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration.

The singer, 41, suffered technical difficulties on Monday before taking the stage to sing America The Beautiful after the performance was moved inside the US Capitol due to frigid temperatures outside.

Both Underwood and President Trump appeared to grimace when the song didn’t play, leaving an eerie silence over the crowd and a bewildered Underwood clutching her microphone.

Following technical difficulties, the Before He Cheats musician decided to perform a cappella, pleading with the audience before singing the song: “If you know the lyrics, help me here.”

Before her appearance at the inauguration, Underwood faced backlash for agreeing to perform at the ceremony, and now it appears that fellow singer Grande has joined in on the criticism.

Taking to social media on Monday, the Wicked star hit the like button on an Instagram post by internet personality Evan Ross Katz that mocked Underwood.

The image she liked featured a snapshot of Underwood singing America The Beautiful into the microphone, with Vice President Kamala Harris standing behind her with an unimpressed expression.

“Kamala Harris evokes Coco Montrese (“Girl, Find the Note”) watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling inauguration,” Katz captioned the post, referencing a quote from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

The Golden Globe nominee apparently agreed with Katz’s assessment of Underwood’s performance by double-tapping the Instagram post.

“I’m on Ariana’s side,” one fan wrote on X, after a screenshot of Grande’s Instagram activity was posted on the platform.

“And that’s why Ari is queen,” said another fan.

An Underwood supporter responded: “I’m already trying to cancel Carrie Underwood for supporting Trump.” We will NOT allow them to cancel it.’

Someone else responded: “We will not allow people who support Trump to be cancelled.” It won’t happen.’

DailyMail.com has contacted Grande’s representatives for comment.

Despite the backlash Underwood faced for agreeing to perform at the ceremony, the singer has maintained that she decided to sing at Trump’s inauguration simply out of pride in her country.

“I love our country and I am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” he said in a previous statement.

Sources revealed that Underwood felt that she had not been

Sources revealed that Underwood felt she had not been “granted the same level of respect” as previous inaugural artists like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga.

“I am honored to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in a spirit of unity and look to the future.”

However, sources revealed to DailyMail.com that Underwood felt she had not been “given the same level of respect” as the likes of Beyoncé and Lady Gaga for her performance on Monday.

A source said she was furious at the fact that she wasn’t given ‘even a stage or platform’ like previous performers, and explained how the indoor conditions had a huge impact on Underwood’s performance.

“Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, mainly due to the limited space she was given, which left her cramped and uncomfortable,” they said.

“Her anxiety was high throughout the performance and she felt that she was not given the same level of respect or admiration that previous artists, such as Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, had received.

“She felt like she was being pushed in and out and then she had a small fit of anger,” they added.

“She’s used to playing in big venues with a stage to herself. They didn’t even give him a stage or a platform.

‘It felt like he was literally in a room with people around him and a microphone. This affected the acoustics.’

An inside source clarified that although Underwood’s performance “wasn’t ideal,” she’s still “proud of herself” for being able to “save him from being a total disaster.”

Underwood was among the number of artists scheduled to perform during inauguration weekend as Trump began his second term.

On Sunday night, Trump danced on stage with YMCA hitmakers the Village People in Washington, DC, ahead of his inauguration.

Meanwhile, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Parker McCollum, Billy Ray Cyrus, Gavin DeGraw and Liberty University’s Praise Choir will also perform.
