A little boy has been attacked by a dingo on K’gari Island.

The three-year-old boy was bitten on the back of the leg while walking on the beach near Kingfisher Bay on the state’s southeast coast at 5pm on Saturday.

The dingo reportedly failed to get away from the family even after the boy’s parents tried to chase it away.

Two people on yachts who witnessed the boy being bitten also tried to move the dingo, but it remained on the beach.

The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is now trying to locate the tagged dingo responsible for the incident.

Visitors to the island have been urged to adopt “dingo-safe” practices, including carrying a walking stick, walking in groups and avoiding running.

Last August, a four-year-old girl was bitten and scratched by a wild animal in nearby Orchid Beach.

K’gari was also marred by a series of dingo attacks in 2023.

An eight-year-old boy was attacked in early July and a 10-year-old boy was dragged underwater by a dingo in June.

A 24-year-old woman was also hospitalized in July after being attacked by a pack of dingoes while jogging on the beach.

A six-year-old girl was left with puncture wounds to her head and hand after a dingo attack in April.
