A man filmed tying a woman around the neck with a belt before raping her has been identified as the father of a 39-year-old girl, police say.
Kashaan Parks, 39, was named a suspect nine days after the brutal attack in the South Bronx, where the victim was tied around the neck with a belt before being sexually assaulted.
Photos on social media show him as a loving father and partner, often playing with his little one or smiling with his partner.
The NYPD confirmed with DailyMail.com that the victim, a 45-year-old woman, was walking near East 152nd Street and Third Avenue around 3 a.m. when Parks allegedly crept up behind her.
Parks then reportedly placed a belt around the victim’s neck, rendering her unconscious, before sexually assaulting her, the NYPD said.

A video is circulating about X in which a man said to be Parks is detained by officers with the help of bystanders who pointed him out to authorities.
The NYPD told DailyMail.com that although an arrest has not officially been made, Parks could turn himself in.
While security footage of the incident went viral on social media, police told amNy that they were not immediately informed of the situation because the victim did not report it.
In fact, it wasn’t until the victim was arrested for petit larceny that officers learned of the incident. She cooperated and identified Parks as the man who assaulted her.
‘Our victim indicated that she had seen him before; she actually described her teeth to us; She had unusual teeth,” said Patrol Chief Joseph Kenny. amNY. “He said she has space between her teeth.”

Surveillance video reviewed by DailyMail.com showed the woman walking in front of whom police suspect, Parks, who had tied a white cloth around the lower half of her face.
He put a belt around her neck and threw her to the ground, and as the woman struggled, she quickly went limp.
Parks allegedly dragged her down the sidewalk and between two parked cars. He reportedly looked around her before leaning over the woman’s body, which is hidden from view.
Police believe the attack followed an earlier conversation between the two people that night, which involved having sex in exchange for money.
They say the conversation involved the victim being offered money in exchange for sex.
However, according to police, when this agreement did not occur, Parks became very angry and allegedly strangled the victim with a belt before raping her.

Last month, a man waited at a Manhattan apartment building before attacking a 23-year-old woman as she returned home.
That man, who has not yet been identified, strangled the victim before forcing her out into a hallway. He allegedly threatened to shoot her if she screamed.
Also last month, a Bronx man forced his way into a woman’s home and punched her in the face several times before sexually assaulting her.
He was identified as Malik Crocker, 31 years old. Jail records show he has not been arrested.
NYPD data shows that as of May 5, 511 rapes have been reported across the city. The vast majority occurred in the Bronx.
However, rapes have decreased this year in the municipality, with 141 reported as of May 5, compared to 148 during the same period in 2023.
