A man has died after falling from rocks at a popular waterfall in far north Queensland.

Emergency services were called to Isabella Falls in Edmonton, a 20-minute drive from the Cairns CBD, at 4pm on Sunday.

It is understood the 27-year-old man was rock climbing at the waterfall when he fell into the water.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics performed CPR on the man but were unable to save him.

It is the third death in less than two years at a popular multi-level waterfall.

Christian Laska, 17, died there in December last year, while a 19-year-old Cairns woman died in May 2022.
