Anticipate an outdoor lifestyle

Alex’s first piece of advice is to expect a very different way of life.

She explains: ‘Since moving to Vancouver, my lifestyle has become much more focused on outdoor activities.

Relationships will change

“While I enjoy outdoor activities, I miss my old community and the irreplaceable connections with friends and family,” the expat adds.

‘Adjusting to a new social circle can be challenging despite exciting lifestyle changes.’

Consider the cost of living

Alex notes: ‘Living in Vancouver has its challenges, particularly the high cost of living. Expenses can quickly add up and budgeting becomes crucial as money may not go as far as it once did.

‘Moving to Vancouver has enriched my life with outdoor adventures and new experiences, but it’s essential to weigh these against the emotional and financial considerations of leaving a familiar community behind and adjusting to the higher cost of living.’
