Rosas allegedly assaulted the boy at Hungry Jacks in Firle, East Adelaide, (pictured) on Friday before fleeing after being confronted by his parents.
Rosas broke down in court after seeing his mother, Melinda, in the gallery and lamented “I love you mom” and “I’m so sorry.” 7news reports.
Melinda told reports outside court that she believed her son was innocent because he comes from a “great family.”
‘We are a big family, kids everywhere, running everywhere. There is no way he would have done this,” she said.
‘Is innocent. He is a beautiful boy. He works hard. ‘He loves family.’
Rosas’ lawyer did not apply for bail and he remained in custody until his next court appearance in September.
