Ellen DeGeneres is returning to the small screen for what she says is the final comedy special of her career.
The 66-year-old former talk show host, who recently sold her sprawling Southern California mansion for $96 million, will star in Netflix’s Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval.
The special was filmed while the comedian was on a multi-city comedy tour that kicked off in San Diego in June.
On the show, the funnywoman said she will cover up the fact that she was “kicked out of showbiz” after her daytime talk show ended following allegations of bullying, racism and sexual misconduct.
The Emmy-winning show ended in May 2022 after 19 successful seasons.

Three producers have been fired after parent company Warner Media conducted an internal investigation.
“To answer the questions you’re all asking me, yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
He also serves as a producer on the special, along with his wife, Portia de Rossi, and Emmy-winning writer-director Ben Winston.
For Your Approval is the first special DeGeneres has done since 2018’s Relatable.
According to a description, the comedian will tackle a variety of topics: “From the mundane world of raising chickens and parallel parking to the harsh realities of becoming a brand-name celebrity, she digs deep into her stand-up roots and brings laughs through life’s most real and absurd realities.”
DeGeneres made history as the first lead actress on a series to come out as gay while starring in her own eponymous sitcom, Ellen, which aired from 1996 to 1998.
After that series ended, the actress made occasional guest appearances on shows like Will and Grace and Edtv.
Her voice work as Dory in Disney/Pixar’s hit animated adventure Finding Nemo helped restore the shine to her star in 2003, the same year she launched The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Just because For Your Approval is her final comedy special doesn’t mean DeGeneres is retiring from showbiz.
She’s been working behind the scenes as a producer on the upcoming Little Funny, in which rising comedian Saffron ‘Saffy’ Herndon gets advice from established comedians including Chris Rock, Wanda Sykes and Iliza Shlesinger.
The multi-talented actress is also an executive producer on the film Couple Time, starring Allyn Rachel and Patrick Carlyle, who play a young married couple living in Los Angeles as they grow together and approach life through their unique shared lens.
