Elle Macpherson has made a huge profit on the sale of her exquisite Florida mansion after it went on sale for $27 million (US$18.5 million).

The Australian supermodel, 60, first purchased the sprawling 8,300-square-foot, six-bedroom property for $US11.8 million (US$8.1 million) in 2018.

He listed the property in 2022 for $29 million, but lowered the price twice to $22 million after initially having difficulty finding a buyer.

However, he still managed to secure a massive profit of over $15 million (US$10.4 million) compared to the initial purchase cost.

The sprawling mansion features exquisite French Norman-style architecture and was originally built in the 1980s, receiving extensive renovations since then.

Some of its exquisite amenities include spacious rooms with high ceilings, a chef’s kitchen, a library, two dressing rooms, a home gym and a saltwater pool.

There is also a private dock and tennis courts, as well as areas for entertaining, while Elle also adorned the walls with lavish artwork by Damien Hirst and Andy Warhol.

The property is located in the luxurious Florida city of Coral Gables, in a luxury gated community called Journey’s End Estates.

She previously said she felt it was the right time to offload the lavish property because her two sons, Flynn, 26, and Cy, 21, had flown the nest.

The home-proud Macpherson previously spoke to Architectural Digest about her decision to purchase the mansion, revealing that it wasn’t what she initially wanted.

“This place is very different from what I had in mind, but I believe in having an open heart and mind in life, and this space and location just seemed right for me,” she told the publication in 2019.

“I wanted the house to feel simple, eclectic and fun, unpretentious, but at the same time have a touch of thoughtfulness. Less is more, but it can also be more challenging. It requires discipline and editing.”

The sale comes after Elle’s controversial admission that she refused chemotherapy during a secret battle with breast cancer seven years ago.

The fashion icon revealed in her memoir, Life, Lessons, and Learning to Trust Yourself, that she took a holistic approach to her illness, going against the advice of 32 doctors and the wishes of her family.

Talking with Women’s weekly On her diagnosis, she admitted: “It was a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing, it was daunting in many ways and it really gave me the opportunity to dig deep into my inner sense to find a solution that would work for me.”

The founder of WelleCo was diagnosed with HER2-positive estrogen-receptive intraductal carcinoma (a type of breast cancer) and underwent a lumpectomy.

Doctors also advised Elle to undergo a mastectomy with radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and breast reconstruction.

However, Elle – who at the time was married to Jefferey Soffer, but divorced four months later after four years of marriage – decided to go against traditional medicine.

Instead, she underwent eight months of intense therapy with doctors in Phoenix, Arizona, taking a holistic route.

Elle, who is now in remission, said it was “a wonderful exercise in being true to myself, trusting myself and trusting the nature of my body and the course of action I had chosen.”

But her comments sparked backlash from a number of high-profile celebrities, including Married At First Sight expert Mel Schilling.

Schilling, 52, who is undergoing chemotherapy as she battles colon cancer, criticized Elle for publicly sharing that she had rejected conventional medicine and embraced an alternative, “holistic” approach.

“I’m thinking about some things about Elle and the interviews she’s been doing lately, as a relatively new member of the cancer community and as someone who just completed six months of chemotherapy,” Mel said in a video shared on Instagram.

‘Elle revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago and saw over 32 doctors, who advised her to undergo a combination of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy.’

“She decided against it and opted for a more holistic, wellness approach, which included things like prayer, meditation, etc.”

Mel said she did not agree with Elle promoting the alternative medicine approach to cancer treatment instead of the proven medicinal approach, as it could lead to others doing the same.
