Dramatic new body camera footage captured the moment Pennsylvania police sprang into action after shots were fired at Donald Trump.

Footage from the July 13 event showed the moment a police officer confronted shooter Thomas Crooks after spotting him on a nearby roof, and the officer left the roof moments before shots were fired.

Body camera footage showed the officer looking up at the ceiling for just a second before spotting the gunman, at which point he ran to the ground and radioed other law enforcement officers that Crooks was carrying a “long gun.”

This comes amid growing scrutiny over the response of local police and Secret Service agents at the scene of the shooting.

The video, which lasts just over four minutes, begins with the officer being lifted onto the roof where Crooks had been stationed, about 150 yards from where Trump was speaking.

Although Crooks does not appear directly in the footage, the officer later claimed the shooter pointed his AR-15-style weapon at him.

The officer immediately began running across a grassy area and toward the Trump rally.

Authorities released the footage without any sound from the start of the episode, but the time stamp on the video shows the officer hiding behind a vehicle at 6:11 p.m., the same time Trump was shot.

While crouched behind a car door, the officer cocked his own rifle, before shouting to other officers that the gunman “was very close and turned toward me.”

“It’s direct,” he continued, pointing toward the roof.
