The Trinamool Congress has come out strongly against BJP MP Dilip Ghosh over his comments on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and has said the former BJP state chief is “expressing his frustration” after his party “ousted” him from his current constituency .

Former cricketer Kirti Azad, Trinamool’s candidate against Mr Ghosh in Bardhaman Durgapur, said this is a “zamindari mentality”. “They have never respected women, so they say whatever they want. Party leader Sushmita Dev was referring to the row over derogatory remarks against BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate and actor Kangana Ranaut. Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said in a statement that the messages on her social media were posted without her knowledge and that she has deleted the “inappropriate messages”.
