A 14-year-old girl has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man in the back at a caravan park on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.
Detective Acting Inspector Craig Mansfield said there was an altercation between a 24-year-old man and a teenage girl at the Big4 Hervey Bay Holiday Park, about 300 kilometres north of Brisbane, at about 9pm on Saturday.
The girl allegedly stabbed the man once in the back.
He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.
The girl was arrested by Queensland police and later charged with murder.
Another 14-year-old girl witnessed the incident and is assisting police with their investigation.
Police say the victim and the accused met a few hours before the fatal incident.
“There are more questions than answers at this stage, but what we know so far is that there is a very limited relationship between this deceased man and our 14-year-old girl,” Detective Inspector Mansfield said.

‘It is no coincidence that they met, there is some connection between those witnesses or the accused.’
A weapon has not yet been located but items that could have been used in the suspected murder are being analysed, Detective Inspector Mansfield said.
He said the 24-year-old man had links to Hervey Bay but was homeless and living in a car before the murder.
“We are trying to establish his movement patterns prior to the incident,” Detective Inspector Mansfield said.
Police are reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage to establish the full picture of why the incident unfolded.
The teenager will face the Hervey Bay Children’s Court on Monday.
