President Joe Biden will address the nation at 8 p.m. tonight from the White House to explain the reasons for his extraordinary decision to withdraw from the 2024 race.

The 81-year-old was seen for the first time in six days as he returned to Washington DC from his beach home in Delaware, as Kamala Harris campaigned as she sought to build support among voters.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump will continue his campaign with a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address Congress in a speech that has sparked controversy on Capitol Hill.

The change of trend in the polls

The vice president has taken a national lead over her Republican rival after securing enough delegates to be named the Democratic nominee at the party’s convention in Chicago next month.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll shows Harris leading Trump by 2 percent in a head-to-head general election matchup as she enters the campaign trail in place of Biden, an ailing 81-year-old.

This follows a series of other polls conducted after Biden ended his campaign.

Trump was narrowly leading Harris in polls when speculation began that Biden would not be on the ticket.

Trump-hating prosecutor reveals his ‘singular approach’ to 2024 race

New York Attorney General Letitia James says getting Kamala Harris elected president is her “singular goal,” despite having many cases on her plate.

Trump, who was also banned from doing business in New York for three years, is appealing the verdict because the fine accrues interest and James will seek to seize his assets if he fails to pay.

Vice President Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race against Trump on Sunday.

James quickly endorsed Harris and continued his support when he appeared on MSNBC on Tuesday night.

Members of Congress are expected to demand answers from FBI Director Chris Wray about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.

This comes days after former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was forced to resign after evading rounds of questioning by turning to the FBI at another congressional hearing earlier this week.

Now it’s Wray’s turn, and it’s unlikely to go smoothly.

The Judiciary Committee hearing is expected to focus on both the shooting at the Butler, Pennsylvania, protest and the “continued politicization” of the FBI.

Biden is seen for the first time in six days… and is asked about dropping out of the race

The 81-year-old has not shown his face since his shock announcement that he was quitting the race on Sunday and sparked wild conspiracy theories with his absence.

He last appeared last Wednesday, when he slowly walked off Air Force One in Dover to self-isolate after being diagnosed with COVID. His voice was heard only on a call to his former campaign office on Monday.

On Tuesday, he stepped out of his SUV wearing a mask, turned to reporters and said he was “fine,” then slowly made his way to the steps of Air Force One for the trip back to Washington, D.C., for the first time since ending his 2024 bid.

“Watch and listen. Why don’t you wait and listen to what I say?” he said when asked what his message would be during his speech on Wednesday night.

But when asked why he had dropped out of the presidential race, Biden just laughed and walked away. He put on his aviator sunglasses and climbed into the Beast.

The view from Air Force One as Biden was rushed into isolation

By Emily Goodin, Senior White House Correspondent

Air Force One was flying so fast I was shaking in my seat.

Now we join him in a mad dash back from Las Vegas to the Bidens’ getaway to Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.

Moments after I buckled up, the massive engines of the presidential Boeing 747 roared to life.

Flight attendants in their personalized blue uniforms stumbled through the aisles as the nose of the plane pointed skyward.

Tables with trays shook and journalists raised their glasses of water to prevent spillage.

But the most worrying thing was that we had no idea what was going on.

For security reasons, there is no Wi-Fi on Air Force One, so we were cut off from the outside world.
