The BBC’s live coverage suffered an unfortunate mishap during Chelsea’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Leicester.
The Foxes have found themselves back in the game after Axel Disasi’s calamitous own goal.
And the announcer missed it, as he was busy showing a replay when the ball went into the back of the net.
Chelsea were in control of the tie, taking a 2-0 lead into the first half thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer.
And it looked like it would be a comfortable second half for Chelsea, who had taken control in the early stages.
Axel Disasi’s back pass went into the far corner with Robert Sánchez nowhere to be seen.
Martin Keown in the commentary said: ‘It’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s a simple pass back to the goalkeeper and he absolutely passes it back to the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper moves away from his goal. Disasi what is he doing?’
Robert Sánchez rushed to console his defender, while running towards the Frenchman to put an arm around him.
It was a positive response from the Spaniard and one that Keown is not sure he received from former Arsenal and England team-mate David Seaman. ‘I don’t care much about that. A little push on him, but he actually has so much weight that he just needs to throw it back at the goalkeeper.
“I wouldn’t have gotten a kiss from David Seaman if I had done that (after Sanchez kissed Disasi on the cheek after the own goal).”
The goal would have done no favors for the confidence of Robert Sánchez, who found himself in no man’s land when the ball deflected into the far corner.
Robert Sánchez did not take long to console his teammate after the goal.
The Spanish goalkeeper had come under fire at half-time from former Chelsea striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, who said he looked “a bit (nervous”). He hasn’t played in a long time, he hasn’t played regularly.
“It takes him a long time when the ball comes back to him. He gets into trouble and gets a little lucky.
‘Then on the next one he does it again and crashes. He needs to improve on that. He is taking on too many risks and too much time.
The own goal energized a Leicester side that had looked down and out, who have since scored a second.
It was a wonderful striker from Arsenal’s youth system, Stephy Mavididi, who cut in on the left side before firing a right-footed shot into the far corner.
