Australian Olympic champion Jessica Fox has quietly split from her long-term French partner Mathieu Biazizzo.

The gold medal-winning canoeist quietly split from her French boyfriend in May before competing in the Paris Olympics, media reports revealed.

The couple is said to have “simply drifted apart” due to long distances over many years that arose to balance the relationship and their careers, reported the Daily Telegraph.

The notoriously private couple had been together for about nine years and met through sport, as he is also a professional canoe slalom athlete.

After the season ended, Fox, 30, would extend the season to stay in Europe with Biazizzo, 33, while he frequently traveled to Australia during the summer.

It’s been an incredible year for Fox, winning multiple World Cups and two gold medals at the Paris Olympics in July and August.

Her younger sister, Noemie, 27, also won gold in Paris in the kayak cross event.

Since returning home from the Paris Olympics, Fox has been sought out by sponsors Adidas, Red Bull, Toyota, L’Oreal Paris, Grant Thornton and Sydney Water as she prepares for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

It is still unknown whether Fox will continue his bid to compete at the 2032 Games in Brisbane.

She is considered by many to be the greatest paddler of all time and was coached by her mother Myriam Fox-Jerusalmi, who was a bronze medalist in the event for France at the 1996 Olympics.

Fox’s father Richard is a five-time world champion and represented Great Britain at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

He also had the rare honor of calling Jess’ gold medal live in the K1 final.

Fox, a four-time Olympian, was one of Australia’s flag bearers at the recent opening ceremony, a feat she called “probably the best moment of my career.”

In his next competition, Fox will compete in the Oceania Championships in January next year, ahead of the World Canoe Slalom Championships in Penrith in October.
