New Delhi:
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap made it clear on Saturday that ‘newcomers’ are not allowed to ‘text, DM or call’ him. In a lengthy note on Instagram, he wrote: “I wasted a lot of time helping newcomers and usually ended up with mediocre sh*t. So from now on, I don’t want to waste my time meeting random people who think they are creative geniuses. So I have rates now. If anyone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes, I charge 1 lakh. For half an hour – 2 lakh, and for 1 hour – 5 lakh. That’s the rate. I’m tired of wasting time meeting people. If you really think you can afford it, call me or stay the fuck away. And all paid in advance.” The caption on the note read: “And I mean it. Don’t text, DM or call me. Pay and you get time. I’m not a charity and I’m tired of people looking for shortcuts.” Commenting on the post, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah said, “I’m forwarding this to everyone in my DMs and emails who keep sending me scripts to forward to you.” Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur added, “Honestly Anurag… I often feel the same way!” Actress Sunny Leone said: “Amen.”
Producer Somen Mishra reshared Anurag Kashyap’s post on Stories and said, “Completely with Anurag Kashyap here. It’s just so tiring. And people can call/send messages anywhere and anytime. Raat ke 2 baje ho yaSunday. Kal raat hello 2 days someone texted. And if you don’t answer…baap re the sense of entitlement. Just because you’re in a certain place makes you the bad guy. If you google a bit you will get our email ID on our site, my Insta(gram) profile, Linkedin profile. Then those who email need an immediate response. Otherwise they call/message. Arre Bhai it’s a small team everywhere that does everything. We read everything, it takes time. And if it doesn’t work for you, then another round. And they are mean/obnoxious to my team. I don’t want to talk to them because they are juniors. I just have to respond. Matlab is similar to bhaithoon toh khatam hi nahi hoga kahani. And anyone who has worked with us can tell you how we work/behave/take our notes. Ask any writer/director/anyone.”
Anurag Kashyap is known for his work in films including Gangs of Wasseypur, Dev.D, Kennedy, And Raman Raghav 2.0 among other things.
