A Wisconsin school district was placed on lockdown after an active shooter attempted to enter a high school on Wednesday.

The Mount Horeb Area School District said on Facebook: ‘Community members, there has been an active shooter at our high school this morning.

‘The individual did not break into the entrance. The police department is helping to inspect our building to ensure the safety of our students and staff. I’ll keep you informed.’

The district later added that “the threat has been neutralized outside the building.”

No injuries have been reported at the high school in Mount Horeb, which is about a half-hour drive from Madison.
