New Delhi:

Kareena Kapoor, Tabu and Kriti Sanon are all set to entertain fans with their camaraderie in the comedy-drama Crew. Rajesh A Krishnan’s film, which hits theaters this Friday, marks the trio’s first on-screen collaboration. Now, just a day before the film’s release, the filmmaker has opened up about the bond between his lead actors. In a conversation with News18 Showsha, Rajesh said that the camaraderie between Kareena, Kriti and Tabu was not just for the big screen. They also got along exceptionally well off-screen. Not only this, the Crew The director also ruled out any kind of ego battles between the stars. Rajesh said, “If it (ego problem) happened, I was not aware of it. Even though there was ego play, I didn’t see any because I was mostly focused on my work. I didn’t feel the need to get involved in small talk. I didn’t encourage that or get carried away with it. Tabu, Kareena and Kriti are all stars who came on board and they pretty much knew what they were getting into.

On the contrary, Rajesh A Krishnan said that the bond of Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu on the set kept the environment lively. The director added, “I saw that they had a lot of respect for each other. There was a lot of talking and I had to stop them by saying, “Okay kids, the shot is ready.” I almost had to tell them to stop messing around and making fun of them (laughs).”

The director also claimed that working with Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Tabu made him observe three different work patterns. Rajesh A Krishnan said he witnessed “a confluence of three different ways of acting like a Mercedes logo with three lines meeting in the middle”. Talking about Tabu, he said, “She internalizes things. No matter what lines she said, the emotional quotient always felt good. She was open to multiple takes if there were technical problems and the continuity guys had to intervene.

But according to him, Kareena Kapoor was more inclined to ‘study the director’. “It was important for Bebo to know what my pitch was. Her first takes are always her interpretation of a scene and the second is a mix of what she wants and what I want. We would very rarely go for a third take with her and even if we did, she would do it exactly the way I wanted,” Rajesh A Krishnan continued.

He added that Kriti Sanon was very particular about the details of her character. Rajesh A Krishnan concluded by saying, “She got into very interesting details and every little detail mattered to her. She asked me a lot of questions about her character. Sometimes I had the answers and other times I had to tell her it wasn’t relevant. She wanted to know the character inside and out, because that would give him a certain mannerism in front of the camera.

Crewwhich is jointly helmed by Ekta Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, also features Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma in key roles.
