Australians receiving Centrelink payments have been reminded that payment and reporting dates have changed due to office closures over the long weekend.
Centrelink branches across Australia will be closed for the holidays of Good Friday, March 29, and Easter Monday, April 1. Call centers will also be closed on these dates.
“You will still be able to access myGov, the Express Plus mobile app and telephone self-service,” Services Australia said.
Centrelink recipients have been asked to report their income earlier than usual to ensure Services Australia can process payments during the lockdown.
Centrelink online accounts will show claimants’ updated reporting dates over Easter.
Australians receiving Centrelink payments have been reminded that payment and reporting dates have changed due to office closures over the long weekend.
“When you submit your report in advance, you will need to include what you expect to be paid during that reporting period,” Services Australia added.
‘You should also do this for any other changes that may affect your payment.
‘If you make a mistake, you can correct your report within 14 days or in your next report.
‘You can still tell us your income, even when we are closed. However, if you do this on a holiday, we will pay you after the holiday.
‘You can also choose to report after the reporting period if you are unsure of your employment income (or) there are changes in your circumstances during the reporting period.
‘You can report once you know your employment income or changes in your circumstances.
“We will pay you after you inform us.”
Anyone who is not required to declare income to receive their Centrelink payment will receive it sooner than usual, he added.
“An advance payment is a normal payment, simply paid in advance,” Services Australia said.
Changes in payment and reporting of allowances
For Centrelink customers receiving JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Farm Household, Austudy, Special Benefit and Status Resolution Support Services payments, the following date changes apply:
- Those who normally declare their income on Friday, March 29 can now do so two days earlier, on Wednesday, March 27. Those who report their income on Wednesday will receive payment on Thursday.
- For customers who normally declare their income on Monday, April 1, they can now declare it four days earlier, on Thursday, March 28. Those who report on Monday will receive payment on Tuesday.
Changes in pension payment and reporting.
For Centrelink customers receiving Family Payment, Parenting Payment, Pensioner Education Supplement, Isolated Child Assistance, Carer’s Payment, ABSTUDY and the Age, Disability or Double Orphan Pension, the following changes apply. date:
- Those who normally declare their income on Friday, March 29 can now declare their income two days earlier, on Wednesday, March 27. Those who declare their income on Wednesday will receive payment the following Tuesday, April 2.
- For customers who normally declare their income on Monday, April 1, they can now declare it four days earlier, on Thursday, March 28. Those who report on Thursday will receive payment the following Wednesday, April 3.
