Australian boxing fans are outraged after youngster Callum Peters was denied a famous victory at the Olympics.

The 21-year-old South Australian lost a split decision to reigning world champion Nurbek Oralbay in Paris, despite pushing the Kazakh all the way in a thrilling three-round fight.

He sensationally rocked Oralbay in the second round, forcing the referee to step in and issue an eight count.

In the final round, the champion was warned after clinging to Peters as he looked to apply pressure with victory in sight.

Despite this, three of the five judges awarded the victory to Oralbay.

Peters told reporters: “I won that fight” after receiving a standing ovation from the crowd at the arena, and his outraged supporters took to social media to express their fury at the decision.

“Callum Peters just got robbed I’m sick,” one heartbroken fan said on X.

Another added: “Hello 911, I would like to report a robbery on behalf of Callum Peters.”

A third fan said: “Stop watching Olympic boxing. It’s crazy. Australian Callum Peters is the latest victim of robbery.”

“What an absolute joke,” said a fourth fan. “Callum Peters clearly won the second and third rounds. The Kazakh held on and held his own throughout the final round.

‘Even the first round was close. I love boxing, but that’s the worst thing: if you don’t get the KO or TKO, your chances go down.’
