Woman sues Tropicana for clever apple juice trick, claims drinks brand owes her money

A TikTok user accused Tropicana of “shrinkflation,” claiming the juice brand owes her “17 cents worth of apple juice.”

The woman named Paige alleges that Tropicana has reduced the size of its 12-ounce apple juice bottles to just 11 ounces while keeping the same price of $1.99.

He added that the company has quietly changed the caps on its bottles in an apparent attempt to prevent customers from noticing.

In a now-viral TikTok, Paige, who says in the video that she is autistic, compares the sizes of the two bottles side-by-side.

She said: ‘I go to the supermarket and think, ‘Oh, they’ve changed the lid; maybe it has less plastic, and that’s great. ‘ But then I picked it up and I knew straight away that something wasn’t right.

The video, posted on July 16, has received more than 5,400 comments from outraged customers.

Paige, whose username is @rawr_its_paige, also claimed the calorie content of each drink did not add up.

The 11-ounce bottle of apple juice had 160 calories, while the 12-ounce had 170.

She added: “Don’t charge me $1.99 for 12 ounces and also $1.99 for 11 ounces. That’s not how things work,” Paige said.

Commenters insisted they would “rebrand” and one person wrote that the alleged price difference is “unacceptable.”
