Rory McIlroy serenaded fans in New Orleans with a performance of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ after winning the Zurich Classic with Shane Lowry on Sunday.
McIlroy and Lowry overcame a tiebreaker to win the competition at TPC Louisiana, having put it on their respective schedules in a bid to move up the FedEx Cup standings.
And after defeating Chad Ramey and France’s Martin Trainer on the first playoff hole, the pair celebrated their victory with a few beers and a live band playing Journey’s famous 1981 hit.
In images shared on the PGA Tour’s social media accounts, McIlroy can be seen drinking his beer on stage in front of hundreds of fans in New Orleans while Lowry laughs alongside him.

Hundreds of fans watched McIlroy perform Journey’s famous 1981 hit alongside a live band.
When the band began to play Don’t Stop Believin, the Northern Irishman took the microphone and sang his best voice for the fans present, who sang back to him.
However, Lowry resisted the urge to join his teammate in the singing department before exiting the stage and continuing to celebrate his win.
After starting the day seven shots off the lead, Ramey and Trainer shot a 9-under 63 in Sunday’s foursomes to head to the clubhouse at 25-under 263. Other teams in the 25-under range soon faltered and retreated. including McIlroy and Lowry, for a brief time, before recovering from a bogey on the 17th hole with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to force a playoff.
They returned to the 18th tee to begin the playoff, and Ramey’s second shot swung left over the gallery. The coach could not hit his third shot with enough force towards the green. Meanwhile, Lowry put his team in the bunker on the second shot, but McIlroy made a nice recovery shot, similar to his putting shot on the 72nd hole to set up Lowry’s 5-foot birdie that forced the playoff.
Lowry’s birdie attempt in the playoff came within inches of the cup, but Trainer drove in his short par putt that would have extended the playoff.
It marked McIlroy’s 25th PGA Tour victory and Lowry’s third. Lowry had not won on US soil since August 2015.

“It’s absolutely amazing,” McIlroy said on CBS Sports. ‘We’ve had an incredible week here in New Orleans. The crowd has been absolutely incredible, getting the support we’ve had. We’ve had a lot of fun doing it and it’s a bonus to win in the end.
“It couldn’t be better than doing it with this man by my side.”
Lowry added: ‘It’s great. It felt very necessary. At the start of the week we felt like we could use a big jump for the FedEx Cup, we got 400 points each and that’s what we’ve done.
“I feel a little bad taking them because Rory carried me, but I’ll take them.”
