Channel Nine football commentator Danika Mason showed her fans a shocking photo of what appears to be a serious back injury, but she didn’t let the pain stop her from covering Thursday night’s game between the Dolphins and Manly.
Mason, 33, shared an Instagram Story before boarding his flight to Brisbane for the match, revealing a scan showing what appears to be damage to a disc in his back.
The image had the following caption: “I was wondering why my back was a little sore the last few weeks…turns out I did a good job.”
A second story showed a colleague carrying her suitcase through Sydney airport because she apparently couldn’t do it, with the caption: “How cool my work family is carrying my bags through the airport.”
Channel 9 football commentator Danika Mason wasn’t going to let a back complaint stop her from covering the Dolphins’ clash with the Sea Eagles in Brisbane on Thursday.
Mason, 33, shared an image of a scan on his back that appears to show painful damage to one of the discs in his spine (pictured).
This was followed by a picture of a hot water bottle on his seat and the words: “No training for a while.” And yes, I got rid of a hot water bottle for the plane.”
Just hours later, Mason uploaded an image of herself in a comment alongside football greats Darren Lockyer and Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin.
The health blow comes after Mason called off her wedding to Todd Liubinskas last year, with the couple set to tie the knot on October 27.
The exact reasons for the breakup are unknown.
Mason called off their nuptials just weeks before the ceremony was to take place at Greystone Estate in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley.
She has since moved on with Canterbury Bulldogs star Liam Knight after the pair were spotted enjoying a romantic date at The Butler restaurant in Sydney’s exclusive Potts Point in February.
‘Her behavior was that of a relaxed woman enjoying a pre-season fling with a younger specimen; His was a deer in the headlights,” a witness at the restaurant said at the time.
The health blow comes after Mason called off her wedding to Todd Liubinskas last year (pictured announcing their engagement).

The star has been with Nine since the 2012 London Olympics and also covers other major sporting events such as the Australian Open tennis tournament.
The popular television presenter grew up in Sydney’s northwest and attended the prestigious Oakhill College.
After graduating in journalism and marketing in Wollongong on the New South Wales south coast, Mason joined Nine ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Mason initially worked as a sports producer before turning to journalism.
As well as rugby league, Mason is also part of the network’s free-to-air tennis coverage each summer, with the Australian Open at Melbourne Park a key focus.

They provide shock absorption, keep the spine stable and provide the vertebrae with “pivot points” to allow movement.
Injuries such as bulging, infected, or herniated discs can be extremely painful.
Herniated discs, when tissue ruptures and can crush the spinal cord, are usually treated without surgery and can take six to eight weeks to heal.
