Orpheus Pledger, 30, has been in custody since March 27 after being charged with an incident allegedly involving an assault causing injury.

He is best known for playing Mason Morgan in 339 episodes of Home and Away from 2016 to 2019 before leaving acting to pursue a career in music.

Pledger appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday via video link where his lawyer, Jasper MacCuspie, asked for his matter to be adjourned.

He will have spent almost a month behind bars when he applies for a suppression order and bail next Monday, the News reports.

Pledger had been an actor since he was eight years old when he first appeared on the 2001 soap opera, The Secret Life of Us.

His first big break came on the mid-2000s teen drama Silversun before landing on 36 episodes of Neighbors as Noah Parkin, a “free-spirited teen who will set some hearts on fire.”

While at the peak of his home and away fame in 2018, the 24-year-old asked his fans to vote for him in Cleo’s Bachelor of the Year, saying he would be “really happy if he won”.

A source close to Pledger, who asked to remain anonymous, told WhatsNew2Day Australia that the actor had been having problems since leaving Home and Away.

“Orfeo has been engaging in this problematic behavior for a while, ever since he moved to Melbourne after his character was killed off,” the source said.

His return to the big screen in SAS Australia in 2022 was brief after he sensationally quit the show for refusing to perform mundane tasks.

He was called in to see senior staff after they became concerned about his mental state, and others on the show claimed he was “with the fairies”.
