IPL 2024: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah talks to Ishan Kishan© Twitter
Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, captain Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan were two Mumbai Indians players who grabbed maximum attention. The appointment of Hardik Pandya in place of Rohit Sharma created a lot of fuss. Ishan Kishan’s case was different. His sudden suspension from the Indian Tour of South Africa was much discussed, as was his missing Ranji Trophy matches for Jharkhand. This is despite Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid saying that Ishan Kishan has to play some form of domestic cricket.
What followed was BCCI secretary Jay Shah talking about how playing domestic cricket is the highest level of cricket. Ishan Kishan was also dropped from BCCI’s latest list of centrally contracted players.
In an interesting turn of events, Ishan Kishan and Jay Shah met after the IPL 2024 match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The internet had some interesting speculation about the meeting.

Ishan Kishan’s terrible form continued as he was dismissed for a four-ball duck during Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. Kishan has struggled to score runs in recent matches and once again failed to score much. Kishan faced just four balls in the match before being dismissed by Azmatullah Omarzai in the first over of the Mumbai Indians’ innings. Kishan eventually played away from his body as he tackled an out-swinger from Omarzai and Wriddhiman Saha completed the catch comfortably.
Rahul Dravid recently broke the silence about Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan making a comeback in the Indian cricket team.
“They are always in the mix. Everyone who plays cricket and plays domestic cricket is in the mix. I don’t decide contracts. It’s the board and selectors who decide that. I don’t even know what the criteria is. People ask wondering my opinion about the 15, Rohit and I pick the not,” Dravid said at a post-match press conference after the fifth Test between India and England.
“Sometimes I don’t even know who is on the list of contracted players when we make these decisions. No one is left out of the mix. It’s a matter of getting them fit, getting back to playing cricket and forcing the selectors to pick them again.” “
